Welcome! I’m Jason Zedde.
Hi, I’m Jason Zedde (pen name), a curious guy, grateful meditator, and former management consultant turned software engineer. I’m thankful to live in a time when pivoting to a technical profession can happen in months.
My 8-month journey from first line of code to dream job tripled my income and, more importantly, led me to fall in love with learning. I did my best to identify evidence-backed tactics at each stage of the process to help me learn as much as I could in the least amount of time, and have fun while doing it. Many of these tactics are replicable, and I designed this site in hopes of supporting others in having a rewarding of a career transition as mine.
I also earn-to-give and part of my hope for this site is to increase the number of us that earn-to-give in tech. Research suggests money spent on others is likely to make you happier, and research like GiveWell’s can help you donate where your money will have the greatest impact. If becoming a software engineer will triple your earnings the way it did mine, imagine how fulfilling it would be to pass along 25, 30, or 50% of that money annually to high-impact charities! As of 2021, three years after my learn-to-code journey, I’m still donating 25% of my pre-tax income, with plans to raise in the future.
Stay curious,
Jason
